How we spent six months on the road with our school-age children.

While most world-traveling families travel with toddlers, we opted for a sabbatical when our two children are already in fourth and sixth grade.

Australia was the first stop of our six-month journey. With a camper van, we first explored the west coast between Bunbury and Exmouth. On the east coast, we rented a larger motorhome, traveling the land between Great Ocean Road and Sydney.

Then we flied to Cambodia. With tuk-tuks, small and large buses, taxi or scooter we travelled through this unique country. Starting from Siem Reap, Phnom Penhm, Otres Beach and Kampot were the stops of our journey.

We crossed South Africa - from the Kruger National Park in the east to the Cape of Good Hope in the west - with a simple rental car.

The last stop of our trip was Namibia. With four-wheel drive and roof tents we moved through the barren landscape of the desert state.
